Topdress Fairways

As you can see from this picture, we are continuing the practice of topdressing fairways with straight sand. The sand helps to smooth the playing surface. It also improves drainage, protects the turf from mower scalping and improves the soil profile. We either blow or broom the sand "into" the turf canopy.

Course Update

As we enter the Memorial Day weekend, the course is been very busy. It is a little wet out from the 0.33 inches of rain we received over the last 24 hours. We have been concentrating on daily preparation of the course for daily play. We are wrapping up the 13th tee and the sod is growing in well. We are also turning our attention on growing in a nursery green just to the left of 5 green complex. We have some minor tree trimming and mulching of some beds on the list over the next few weeks. I hope we see you out playing. Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Golf Course Update

The course has really "greened up" from the over 2.2 inches of rain we received this week! The rough is growing like....rough in May...thick and dense. We are putting as much effort as possible to keep the rough at a manageable playing height. We just sodded the surround of the new 13th tee. We plan to finish it by Tuesday of next week. I am hoping to open it by no later than the third week of June. I want to thank everyone for fixing ball marks and divots. Every little bit of help in this department really improves the quality of the course.

13 tee Construction

We are moving forward with the construction of 13 tee. It will add roughly 23 yards to the overall length of the hole. This picture shows soil being shaped to become the outside part of the tee. Next week, we will add irrigation and drain to the actually tee surface.

Pavers

Here is a photo of the new pavers that were installed at the back entrance of the pool. This is a big upgrade over the previous mulch based path. We will be planting grass seed around the board of the pavers later today. The pavers match the ones that were installed by the Midway and the tennis courts.
